Queen B tops the charts with sweet surprise album Lemonade
If you spend any time on the internet you know Beyoncé’s new surprise album is topping the charts within a week of its release. This should not be a surprise to anyone who listens to her music, especially after listening to this album.
While the lyrics are only part of the song, the strength of her words increase the power behind Beyoncé in every song. Every song is different with different words, a different beat, and a different meaning, but they work together to make the perfect collection of stories of strength and independence.
“Beyoncé isn’t one to work on a small scale. This is the woman who gave us ‘Run the World (Girls),’ after all. Lemonade is more than just an album about a wronged wife—Beyoncé wants to take everyone with her. The album is a feminist blueprint, a tribute to women, African-Americans, and, especially, African-American women,” Ray Rahman said in a review on ew.com.
The album is a deeper look into Beyoncé’s personal life and raises many speculations as to who the lyrics could be about. However, by focusing on the subject of the song rather than what the lyrics are, you lose focus on the in-depth adventure through Beyoncé’s personal life.
The songs in the album embrace the strength and independence of females. Other songs such as “Sorry,” express self-worth and the ability to overcome the stereotypes that many women are faced with everyday.
“The songs, though, are not just prurient catnip, but actual dynamite – a dazzling series of edgy, but tuneful collaborations with a diverse array of guests. Beyoncé’s hurt is articulated magnificently,” Kitty Empire said in a review on theguardian.com.
Queen B proves through her new album that she runs the world and rightfully reclaims her throne at the top of the charts where she belongs.
