Spotify and Pandora are two of the most common apps used to listen to music online.  Although some people like Pandora, Spotify is obviously better.

While they both play music, users like them for different reasons.  Some people prefer using Spotify so they can choose their own playlists while others prefer to use Pandora so they can shuffle music that has already been prepared for them.  Although there are some perks to Pandora, Spotify is obviously better.

“There are playlists for all different types of moods and genres [on Spotify],” Jacklyn Schlender, sophomore who prefers Spotify, said.  “You can [also] create your own playlists on Spotify.”

Schlender has been using Spotify for about a year and likes how you can search for songs and make your own playlists on Spotify, which you cannot do on Pandora.  Because of these reasons, Schlender said she would recommend Spotify over Pandora.  Because you cannot search songs on Pandora, Spotify is the better choice for song streaming.

Although Spotify is the more obvious choice, some people do prefer to use Pandora.

Megan Lane, sophomore, commented on how prefers using Pandora to Spotify.

“[Pandora is] a constant stream of music and it’s a really good place to discover new songs and artists,” Lane said.  “It plays songs related to the artist you’re listening to so you can listen to songs of your favorite style by a ton of different singers.”

Lane’s recommendation is Pandora because of its convenience.  She likes how you do not have to make your own playlists.  Although you do not have to make your own playlists on Pandora, Spotify also has pre made playlists you can choose to listen to as well.

Although there are advantages to Pandora over Spotify, Lane dislikes the fact that there are a limited amount of skips and she believes “the ads are repetitive and annoying.”  Apart from that, she really likes everything about Pandora and how it works.

“I mean I know you can listen to pre-made playlists on Spotify,” Lane went on to say, “but sometimes I like the songs you can listen to on shuffle on Pandora better.”

Because of these reasons, Spotify is a better choice for listening to music online.
