Thirteenth Floor has customers coming back for more

Two characters pose at 13th Floor haunted House in Chicago after getting their makeup done by finalists from Faceoff. This haunt is open through November fourteenth, it’s not too late to visit one of Chicago’s scariest attractions.

The nation’s tenth scariest haunted house is located in the outskirts of Chicago.

13th Floor Chicago, located in Melrose Park, is one of the most extravagant haunted houses and definitely deserves its title as one of the top in Chicago, according to review from HauntedIllinois.com.  The haunted house is open October through November. What makes this particular haunt so extreme are the layouts and sets, as well as the professional and realistic makeup done by trained professionals from SyFy’s Face-off, including one of this season’s finalists.

“They’ve made multiples [of Thirteenth Floor], so I started in Denver and this is actually my first time [at the Chicago one],” Evan Hedges, Faceoff finalist, said.  “I’ve never seen the show or anything, and [just now] was my very first time. It was awesome.”

Although majority of haunted houses have makeup artists, this particular one is unique in the sense that it has to from a popular television show and the fact that every one of the character’s makeup is finished within five minutes displays true professionalism.

“The decision to have makeup artists is one of the most important parts. You can’t have cereal without milk — it just doesn’t taste right — so you have to have a great makeup artist. As far as the makeup artists we have here today, they got out on to the show, and now they’re helping us out here in Chicago,” J.D Epperson, sixth year assistant general manager of 13th Floor Chicago, said.

The scenery, actors, and makeup all create this worthwhile haunted attraction.  Even the title is used to draw people to it.

“The 13th Floor is a storyline that is like a lure behind a haunted house. In hotels and other building, you don’t have a 13th floor out of superstition. The idea is that we bring what that superstition and horror is,” Epperson said.  “The 13th Floor is something you won’t find in a hotel or in an important building. You’re going to find it here.”

This haunted house is well worth a drive over an hour.  Each individual room was well thought out and characters were placed in perfect pop-out positions. Overall, the experience is worth the slight wait and customers are entertained from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave.
