New OMI album upbeat, catchy
OMI’s hit “Cheerleader” was the hit of the summer. Performing everywhere from America’s Got Talent to Neil Patrick Harris’ show Best Time Ever, the song hit number one on the Billboard Top 100 charts. After releasing his follow up single “Hoola Hoop,’ OMI debuted his first album Me 4 U, which provides a number of refreshing substitutions for “Cheerleader.”
“Hula Hoop” did not take long to join “Cheerleader” on the charts. While both songs did not take long to become overplayed on every radio station, the upbeat musical style never fails to amuse.
“‘Cheerleader,’ OMI´s first single and opening track of the artist’s debut album Me 4 U, has this innate je ne sais quoi. It’s a song that makes you feel like dancing and at the same time relaxed and gives you a general sense of what’s to come” wrote Elias Pelcastre in a review for eliaspelcastre.com.
It did not take long for hit song, “Cheerleader” to top the charts as one of the most annoying, overplayed songs on the radio. However, Me 4 U provides fresh songs to add to your playlist.
After listening to the whole album, it is clear that the buoyant musical style fits with the catchy lyrics in making listeners want to dance and sing. Although the songs may be a bit overplayed, it will not be easy to refuse the urge to hum the tune and sing along.
