Paul Blart 2, terrible plot with poor acting
Scriptwriters found a way to make a movie that’s worse than the original Paul Blart: Mall Cop movie. Unshockingly, it’s the sequel to that movie, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.
The movie displays the same overweight, unamusing main character, Paul Blart, played by Kevin James, who wants a vacation from his “taxing” job as a mall cop, so he takes his teenage daughter to Las Vegas.
Within the first few minutes of the movie, viewers see Blart’s love affair from the first movie leave him, then minutes later his mother, (Shirley Knight) is killed by a milk truck in front of their house. Seem a bit sudden?
“But truly, there is not a single redeeming moment in director Andy Fickman’s film. A general flatness and lethargy permeates these reheated proceedings,” Christy Lemire, reporter on Roger Ebert, stated in her review on the movie.
Along with a plot that completely copies the first movie, the film contains actors that leave the jokes flat and humorless. Raini Rodrigues, who plays Maya, Blart’s daughter, displayed dull and boring acting and attempted at sarcasm that few viewers couldn’t understand.
“You won’t find much prompting an emotional reaction in general, so familiar are the jokes and situations,” Andy Webster, staff writer in the New York Times, stated in his review of the movie. “If Mr. James’s character thinks of safety first, so does this movie, to its extreme detriment.”
Overall, if one wants to feel smarter or better about themselves, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, would probably be the movie to see. However, if looking for a movie containing a real plot with understandable and relatable characters, this is not the movie for you.
