Night Visions was a big hit with all of Imagine Dragons’ song gaining #1 on top of the charts. Songs on their new album, Smoke + Mirrors, are starting to climb to the top of the charts, starting with the catchiest song, “I Bet My Life,” #26 on iTunes.

“I Bet My Life” is a very upbeat song that involves catchy beats along with clapping. The chorus is very catchy, and this song will definitely will become a top hit this summer, if not earlier. This song uses the same style in Night Visions and listeners who enjoy the song should also check out “We Are Young” by Fun., or “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors.

New sounds are featured by a songs including “Warriors.” The song was officially released on the soundtrack of the League of Legends Promotional Video along with being featured in the movie Insurgent. The song has a very driving notion to it, creating the needed suspense for a movie. The middle of the song includes a intricate electric guitar solo, to add dark, thriller tension to the song.

“‘Warriors’ is my favorite song because it has a good beat to run to,” Mackenzie Weider, sophomore, said. She believes that the whole album would be good for a intense workout.Weider will also be attending an Imagine Dragons concert this summer.

“Gold” is also a significantly different sound type of song starting with loud tribal noises with a wide array of instruments. The song has a “haunting” vibe to it, as Dan Reynolds, vocalist is accompanied by low voices in the background.

Most people might unlike the new sound of Imagine Dragons after the big blowout of Night Visions, but the combination of both their old and new styles makes Smoke + Mirrors an album definitely worth buying.

“Its definitely one of their best albums,” Weider said. “Its going to be a big hit for people who love alternative music.”
