Alternative, fresh, and jamming can easily describe the up-and-coming band Basic Vacation. New to the music scene, Basic Vacation revamps everything that was amazing about the late 2000’s alternative band such as Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco and Metro Station.
Basic Vacation lyrically grabs you into the storyline of their songs on their self-titled album which dropped in October. The debut single “I Believe” gives the listener motivation to do whatever, no matter who may say it will never happen. The theme of dreams and the future continues on the song “It’s all happening” when the band members sing about making it in the cut-throat music industry, even though some might not have believed in them. Both songs make one want to jump up and down, frolic, and dance like no one’s watching.
The song “Jamie” about love and the ins and outs of having a crush and relationships, can easily be compared to Rick Springfield’s song “Jessie’s Girl” because not only is the story line similar but both songs can relate to anyone’s past relationships and feelings, plus the songs are both just that good. “You’re in my head” brings another love story into the record with great verses and vocals.
The final song “World’s Collide” is the icing on the cake to this rocking album. The song builds up, getting the listener excited to not only dance but to hear the rest of the song, creating a perfect send off for developing fans to want more.
If you miss the alternative music scene, definitely check out “Basic Vacation”. The songs can relate to many listeners, tastes, and music needs.
