The roller coasters are not the only scary thing about Six Flags this month. The roller coasters create frights, but the safe haven after each ride is horror filled as creatures spook from behind. That’s right, Six Flags Fright Fest is back, and this is not a year to miss.
In addition to all the frights in the past, Six Flags has decided to step it up, now making this annual event seven weeks long. After the clock strikes 6pm, the family-fun during the day takes a 180 into a 100 percent scare zone with blackout mazes and lots of “monstertainment.”
“One time, a clown was chasing me around the park, until I got in line for Raging Bull. He had a knife,” Drew Kowalski, junior and annual attendee, said. “There were also others during the Haunted Trail who were trying to tell me that they’d rip my eyeballs out, or that the devil was going to live inside of me. I just can’t wait for this year.”
Although all the people in costumes seem scary at the moment, they are not allowed to touch or hurt anyone in any way, according to Kowalski. They are, however, allowed to touch feet during the haunted houses, adding to the scare factor.
Maddie Roach, sophomore, annually goes with friends every week because it is her favorite thing to do at this time of year, and she makes it a mission to attend the hypnotist show every year.
“I definitely recommend the hypnotist show, I thought it was the best part,” Roach said. “I don’t want to give anything away, but it was amazing what she could do, and although I see it every year, it never ceases to wow me.”
Roach explains that the entire night was scary, and she especially enjoyed the costumes of the zombies who were running around. It felt like a giant haunted house, according to Roach. The entire event is quite the experience, scares and thrills are the perfect combination.
“I would recommend going to Fright Fest to anybody who isn’t a baby,” Roach said. “You can’t be really scared to go and expect to come out without crying. That’s how scary it is.”
This event is not for people who get scared really easily, especially with all the zombies running around constantly screaming in people’s ears. However, in any case, every person who enters seems to leave with a smile on his or her face, laughing at all the fright they just experienced, bringing them back the next year.
“If you are up for a fright, I would go to Fright Fest,” Kowalski said. “It’s really fun and very scary, quite an experience.”
