The popular singer and songwriter, Taylor Swift, released her newest album, Red, on October 22, which has grown to be a big hit, rising to #1 on the charts. The album includes big hits like “22,” “Red,” and the most popular, “We Are Never Getting Back Together.”
Each song in this album holds Swift’s stories about love and relationships that she has experienced. Although each song is catchy and easy to connect with, the new sound of her music takes away from her originality as a country singer. Because of the loss of her country taste in her music, her songs will loss popularity fast.
From her first-ever hit single, “Tim McGraw,” listeners have fallen in love with her country style. Slowly, Swift has transitioned into a pop singer, like many other singers nowadays. This newly released album just pushes her into the pop star category. Because of this, her originality as a singer is slowly fading away.
“I feel like my music has become a lot of things. It’s hard to label the evolution, but I like there to be an evolution,” Swift said to The Daily Beast’s website.
Without that taste of country that many listeners have loved for years, Swift has become yet another singer that makes catchy songs that go stale within months. For example, the pop style of Swift’s “We Are Never Getting Back Together,” is stronger than any other style throughout in the song. Although it is still popular, it will not be long until it grows old.
Although she is still producing great, popular songs, without that little bit of country that she is known for, her originality and popularity will slowly fade away.
