Plug in Stereo’s new EP, Patience, was worth every bit of patience.
The album showed lead singer, Trevor Dahl’s, growth as an artist. The songs include more instruments and variety compared to his past albums and EPs. The EP contains four new songs and his popular duet with Cady Groves, “Oh Darling.”
“Each song is definitely different. They all kind of have a different sound, like…indie, folkish sounding rock. There’s another more sort of pop song, so it’s all kind of different,” said Dahl in an interview with The Star Scoop.
Easily the best song on the EP, “I Blame You,” is a comical song about a quirky boy who is helplessly in love with a girl and can’t do anything right. The song is the most upbeat and is fun to sing along to.
“You’re On My Mind” is a song serenading a girl, pretty typical, however, this song isn’t too upbeat or too slow; it’s a nice medium. Dahl’s voice is sweet, and the meaning is even sweeter.
The most serious song on the EP, “Patience,” focuses on the importance of perseverance and working hard to complete your goal, even if all the odds are against you.
“I think that I have more personal songs on the album. They mean a lot more to me, I would say,” Dahl said. “On the EP there’s a couple songs that mean a lot to me, but there are songs on the album that I’ve been writing for a long time.”
