Winter Pack the Place brings wins and losses
Friday night saw both a close loss and an inspiring win in the Field House for Pack the Place, with the girls basketball team winning 51-33 and boys basketball losing 54-62.
The boys were trying to find their step at the beginning of the season, according to Peter DiCerbo, junior power forward, but the loss of Chris Trybula, senior power forward, caused the team to redefine their game plan. However, Friday night’s performance has made DiCerbo confident for the rest of the season.
“Even though we ended up losing, I feel like that was not a performance we can be too disappointed in,” DiCerbo said. “I think we will keep on hammering out the little mistakes in our game and keep getting closer and closer to where we need to be to succeed when we really need it later in the season. We’ve seen a lot of improvement in the past couple games and I think it will continue to come as the season progresses farther.”
Girls’ Basketball is starting to get back on their feet after hitting a rough patch, according to Eleni Papastratakos, junior guard.
“I think we are stronger than ever for the end of the season,” Papastratakos said. “We have some big games coming up, but with the way we have been playing lately, I think that we will be able to deliver and hopefully get that second in conference spot that we have been fighting for all season.”
