The basketball team holds their annual Blue/White game
With their home opener just around the corner, the boys basketball team held their annual Blue/White scrimmage game in the main gym.
“The best part about playing in the Blue/White game is that it gives you the feel and excitement of a real game except there is a lot less pressure to play perfectly,” Peter DiCerbo, junior power forward, said.
Splitting up the sophomore and varsity teams and dressing in home and away uniforms, the boys played each other in a game consisting of four, 8 minute quarters with a halftime show where the varsity cheerleaders and the varsity dance team performed. Playing against each other, DiCerbo says, makes the basketball team compete harder.
“I don’t feel weird playing against [my teammates] because we’re all really good friends, so it’s just fun competition,” DiCerbo says. “We still play hard, but we have a lot of fun while doing it.”
The Blue/White scrimmage prepares the team for their first game of the season, Monday, against Grayslake North, which DiCerbo says they’re ready for.
“Based on how the game went, I am feeling good going into this season because combining the best of the best from each team will make a real force to be reckoned with,” DiCerbo said.
After a hard fought game consisting of more than 20 fouls, the Blue Team won the game 60-47.
