Bears Back Home: Lake Zurich defeats Warren
After three weeks away from Mel Eide Field, the Bears came back and dominated the Warren Blue Devils.
“Being back at home was awesome for us. Playing in front of our community is one of the biggest motivations for the guys on our team,” Alex Miller, senior defensive back, said. “It’s really special to get a win in front of our home crowd.”
With a 35-6 win, the Bears made sure to remind everyone not to mess with them on their home turf. After a difficult season last year, the boys are determined to show the Northern Suburban Conference that they are not the same team they were, according to Robert Hinsberger, junior wide receiver.
“I think this year there is something different about this team. We’ve made mistakes and had our ups and downs, but I think we do a really good job of correcting ourselves and improving every week,” Hinsberger, said. “I think we are all hungry for the playoff spot and a conference championship so it’s in the back of our mind everyday.”
Next week, the Bears are set to play Lake Forest, the team that prevented them from getting to the playoffs last year.
“[What I’m looking forward to next week is] getting the opportunity to beat the team that knocked us from the playoffs last year. We haven’t forgotten. Also just getting another chance to make our town proud,” Miller said. “Our fans mean a lot to us. Knowing how much the game means to not only us but everyone at our school motivates us even more.”
