LAX goes to the max
They play hard, they play fast, and they play together.
“We’ve had winter tournaments, Sunday practices, college clinics, speed camps, and conditioning for the past four months knowing the hard work will pay off during the season,” Casey McGinnis, senior and four year lacrosse player, said
McGinnis has been challenged this year with having a few returning members and having lots of new players, but she believes that the team can take on the challenge.
“Every team goes through challenges,” McGinnis said, “but at the varsity level, we all know how to deal with them and get rid of them before they affect how we play together on the field. Going through challenges as a team is always stressful but we always find a way to get out of the situation and come out stronger.”
Because Lake Zurich Lacrosse is a club, the team does need to fundraise.
“We do anything from car wash sales to mulch sales and the both of those bring in a lot of money for the program,” McGinnis said.
Everyone is very welcoming to new players, according to McGinnis, and they give the new players attention and help they need to have them become good lacrosse players. Off the field, they talk and joke around with everyone to make it comfortable for the other girls to be there.
McGinnis believes that this year the team will be very successful because they have a group of dedicated girls that are willing to put in all they have into every game for each other.
