The men’s golf team season kicked off a week before school started. To get ready for this year’s season, the team has been practicing for it throughout the summer.
“We have been preparing for the season by playing 18 or 9 holes every day, going to the driving range, and playing chase on the practice green,” Michael Madura, senior and a varsity golfer, said.
This year, the varsity golf team has only seven members instead of the usual eight like the previous years. Even though the team has one less member than normal, the team is determined to overcome other schools underrating them as a team by making it to state and winning the state championship.
“I think we are underrated because schools like Lake Forest and Barrington have always been better than us in the past, but I think we can beat them,” Madura said. “We are just going through our daily practice and working to do our best to win.”
