Varsity poms took 4th place in their hip-hop routine and 19th in their poms routine at the UDA National Dance Team Championship.
The team qualified over the summer at the UDA camp. The team went to the competition in Florida the weekend of February 2.
“To be able to go to nationals is an amazing opportunity. It is amazing to compete against such great teams,” Dana Matasek, junior, said. “Also, being in Florida with my team was so fun.”
The Varsity team improved on last year’s 5th place finish in hip-hop and 21st in their pom routine.
“In both performances I was so proud of how we did,” Matasek said. “Especially when we were done with hip hop, I think our whole team knew we did our best.”
The team is now looking towards next year’s season and trying to qualify at the UDA summer camp.
“We performed our routines the best we could and I’m so proud and thankful we did as well as we did,” Carly Dust, senior captain, said. “It was a great way to end the season.”
