Boys’ basketball lost to Lake Forest 59-44 Friday night at home, making their record 8 and 10.
The team was tied 8-8 at the end of the first quarter. However, Lake Forest began to take the lead in the second quarter and kept it throughout the game.
Mike Travlos, sophomore guard, believes the team lost because of poor defense.
“Offensively I thought we did okay, but defensively they killed us. I think we could have done a better job on them,” Travlos said. “It matters about the win, and we didn’t get that tonight. Next game we have to improve on the defensive end.”
Travlos was the leading scorer for the Bears with 11 points. Other offensive standouts include Brad Kruse, junior guard, who scored ten points, and Ryan Roach, senior guard, who scored seven points.
The team improved in the fourth quarter, outscoring Lake Forest 8 points to 4 in the last five minutes of the game, but that was not enough to get the win.
The next game is in the First Annual Martin Luther King tournament at LZHS on Saturday, January 19.
