The LZ Winter Color Guard won the IDTA State championship last weekend, placing first in the tall flag division and second in lyrical flag division. This was the second year in the row that they won State.
“Everyone screamed and jumped up to hug each other,” Olivia Pesce, junior, said.
Though there were a lot of factors that contributed to the success, Pesce says the most important was teamwork and dedication.
“We worked hard and we worked together,” Pesce said.
The best part, however, was meeting the goal the team had set for back-to-back State wins, according to Pesce.
“It was great to accomplish what we set out to do from day one,” Pesce said, “repeat as state champions.”
