Varsity Poms placed fifth for their Hip Hop routine and twentieth for their Poms routine at UDA Nationals this year. They qualified for nationals at UDA camp this summer and made it through to the finals for both routines for the first time since 2007.
“It was really exciting to go through to finals [at Nationals],” Kendall Sharp, sophomore, said. “It was really cool just hearing our names called.”
The varsity Poms team placed better this year than ever before. They have been working hard all season to do well at Nationals this year.
“Teams are always trying to find the trick that gets the highest points,” Sharp said. “It’s all about us trying to find the hardest routine.”
Poms is not over for the season yet; they still have to compete at State in March.
“We have one more competition, then State,” Katie Hayes, senior, said. “We’re hoping to win State in both Pom and Hip Hop and we’ve been working hard all year to reach that goal.”
