Both the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams will travel to the state meet in Peoria next weekend after good showings in sectionals.

The girls’ team finished fourth overall at sectionals. Sophomore Meaghan Gelinas finished first for the team and 14^th overall with a time of 18:25.73. She was followed by freshman Katie Fabbrini (15^th overall), junior Angela Ufheil (20^th overall), senior Elizabeth Berton (33^rd overall), senior Cassie Houghton (55^th overall), freshman Nicole Syverson (65^th overall), and junior Meagan Hughes (90^th overall).

The boys’ team finished third overall and will also advance to state. Senior Pat Juras led the way for the Bears, finishing second overall in the race with a time of 14:57.14. After Juras came senior Jon Smith (15^th overall), junior Alex Milner (30^th overall), junior Jon Ramirez (34^th overall), junior Trevor Kuehr (41^st overall), senior David Smith (59^th overall), and junior Jared Ripoli (66^th overall).

The State Finals race will take place on Saturday, November 5, in Detweiller Park in Peoria, IL
