The Lake Zurich Bears kicked off Homecoming weekend with a 16-6 win over Lake Forest Friday night.
After two Lake Forest field goals in the first quarter, LZ overcame
fumbles and a bad snap on a punt to answer with a field goal in the first half. The defense shut out the Lake Forest offense and they did not score again.
The defense put out a solid performance, stopping many key Lake Forest plays. Sean Lynch, sophomore corner back, intercepted a pass that stopped a big pass play that would have given the Scouts a first down.
Jack Lynn, senior linebacker and wide receiver, made his sixth catch of the season for his third touchdown.
The stands were packed with students and parents celebrating Lake Zurich Homecoming weekend. The student section cheered for the Bears as well as performances by the marching band, the poms, and others.
This win brings the Bears to 6-2 overall, and 4-1 in the conference. They are currently in a three way tie for first place in the NSC Lakes Division. Next week they are set to play Zion-Benton at home.
