“Get a job” at the third annual Job Fair
For the third year in a row, students have the opportunity to find employment without even leaving the high school.
“We have 26 area businesses coming in that need to fill some positions at their company so they’re coming in to speak with our students to find potential employees,” Jeanette Greco, Career Site Mentor, said. “The employers that come are very delighted to hire our students. They find them to be real hard workers, so we’ve gotten some positive feedback.”
The job fair will take place Friday in the library, from 8am to 2:30pm. Many local businesses, such as Culver’s, the YMCA, and new guests like Solana Deer Park, will be visiting to hunt for potential employees. Most businesses are looking to hire sixteen and seventeen year olds from the high school, but a few will be looking for fourteen and fifteen year olds.
The fair is a good way for students to look around and apply to any business they are interested in, Greco said.
“It was an easy process,” Jillian Glasser, sophomore who now works at Chick-fil-A, said. “I went [to the job fair] and they gave me an application. I filled it out by the end of the day. They told me they’d get back to me, and they did. I really do like my job.”
The job fair is definitely something Glasser would recommend to others, she said.
“Definitely do it,” Glasser said. “It’s a good experience, and you’ll most likely get a job.”
