Jump starting the new year with a new DMV in Lake Zurich

The Libertyville DMV moves to Lake Zurich and the community is liking the new location’s convenience.

Seven months after the Chicago Tribune first discussed the Illinois Secretary of State considering to move, the new DMV has now opened for business in Lake Zurich.

The DMV facility from Libertyville moved to South Rand Road near the Deerpath Commons and students already claim the location is benefiting them.

“I think it benefited me that it was in Lake Zurich because we didn’t have to make an appointment, so it was just kind of last minute, and I got to go whenever I felt like it,” Paige Bandel, junior who got her license at the new DMV, said. “It’s really close to my house, too.”

With its new convenience of location, the move to LZ has got Driver’s Education teachers such as Shane Williams, making plans to benefit his students by simulating the test.

“[This move] will allow Lake Zurich High School students to actually practice at the spots they are testing the kids,” Williams said.

Open Tuesdays through Saturdays, due to the familiarity of this new testing location and among other reasons, the move is thought to be overall convenient and a good addition to the community, according to Dan Strickler, Driver’s Education teacher.

“I just think it’s going to be a lot closer for them to take care of any paperwork and their testing is going to be more convenient,” Strickler said. “I think the community is happy about them being here.”
