The annual winter concert leaves the audience on a high note
Members of Bare Voices, Blue Notes, and Chamber Strings surprised the audience at their annual winter concert last night.
“We had a few tricks up our sleeves that I think went pretty well with the audience. We had Mr. Nightlinger come out dressed as Santa. Everyone liked that, so I think everyone really liked all of our selections,” Delaney Katz, junior Bare Voices member, said. “I think we really all put a lot of energy into the concert. That’s just been something we’ve been trying to work on in class: just bringing more energy to our group as a whole and be Bare Voices, not Square Voices, as Mr. J calls it.
The concert was altered to appeal to the audience which included a lot of alumni.
“I love holiday music so I just think dancing to that and singing to that and seeing everyone into it is really fun,” Megan Lane, junior Blue Note member, said. “My cousin, who goes to college, came back and saw it. I know a lot of the graduated seniors came and saw it so it was really special for a lot of people.”
Both Lane and Katz enjoyed performing for their friends, family, and alumni last night as they displayed the work they have put into preparing for the past two months.
“I think definitely all of our hard work really paid off because we were able to really showcase the audience what we had been working on for the past couple months,” Katz said. “I think we pulled it off very well.”
The three groups were successful in the concert not only with hard work, but with differences in some choreography, making the performance the most memorable of the night.
“I think my favorite part of the night was when we did ‘Up on the Housetop’ because that was the one with Mr. Nightlinger. We had a lot of fun. We sort of choreographed it but not in a super intricate way,” Katz said. “We just wanted to make it a bit more unique and bring more life to the song. I think that the audience really appreciated that and doing the number was just a lot of fun.”
As a senior in her third year on staff, Megan (spelled the right way) will be taking on the role as Magazine Editor-in-Chief of Bear Facts Student Media....
