Habitat hands out Holiday Grams for Charity Bash

Habitat for Humanity is handing out Holiday Grams today to raise money for Charity Bash.

“It’s really fun to be surprised in class with a candy cane when they are delivered,” Tara Wilkes, junior involved in Habitat, said, “and the proceeds go to a great charity.”

The Holiday Grams were a success, according to Emma Daleske, sophomore involved in Habitat.  Since the club has done this type of fundraising event before, there were only a few minor changes, one of them being they were called Holiday Grams because the holidays are coming up.

“[This event] was very similar to Boo grams because you pay money to send a message to a friend, but Holiday Grams are different because it uses a candy cane instead of candy corn,” Wilkes said.

Although this is not Habitat’s first time raising money for Charity Bash, it was difficult to compete with all the other clubs raising money this week.

“[The fundraiser] was smooth sailing,” Daleske said, “however, it was hard to compete with all the other clubs and donation options at lunch.”

Although Wilkes and Daleske do not know how much money was raised, they both said the fundraiser raised a lot of money for the Alexander Leigh Center for Autism.

Students should expect to receive their Holiday Grams today and tomorrow.
