Speech Team Candy Jar Guess

Speech Team is hosting their first ever Charity Bash event: the Candy Jar Guess. The event takes place during all the lunch periods this week at the Charity Bash tables.

“As a team last year, we weren’t able to get involved around the school,” Emma Daleske, sophomore on Speech Team, said.  “We didn’t have a hallway for Homecoming or anything like that.  It was a pretty low key team, but this year we were all just really motivated to be a part of the school.  By taking part in Charity Bash, we are not only able to get involved with the students, but also [with] our community that needs help.”

Speech Team, according to Daleske, [has] never really done any events for the school.  This year they were willing to take part in the school more, and this was one of the ways they thought they could take part to start off small, according to Ria Talukder, sophomore on Speech Team.

“I just joined Speech Team this year,” Talukder said, “but to my knowledge, we have [never done anything like this before, but I am excited to] watch someone eat all that candy [when they guess correctly].”

The candy jars are all filled with Starbursts and Jolly Ranchers. Participants guess how many pieces of candy are in each jar, and whoever gets the closest to the correct amount, gets to keep the candy.

“There are a lot of events out there to help,” Daleske said.  “But every cent counts.  This is just another way to help the community.  Plus, you get free candy. What’s not to like?”
