Drama club to perform Coffee House for charity
Sideways acts will take the PAC stage in a rather unconventional performance.
“We set up the stage on the far end of the theater and then we put everybody up on the stage with them, so it’s not like the people are sitting in the audience,” Marcel Graham, Drama Club sponsor, said. “People bring their blankets, their comforters, pillows from home, just something to sit on. They sit there and enjoy good friends and entertainment.”
Drama Club will host their Charity Bash fundraiser Thursday at 7pm in the PAC. There will be baked goods on sale, and all sorts of acts for the audience’s entertainment.
“Students can showcase their talents, and it’s not the same talents that they get to showcase all year round,” Graham said.“For example, we have people that come up and do stand up comedy, and some people read poetry, and some people try to tell jokes and fail. That’s the beauty of that night: you can get up there and try anything you want, and be amongst very supportive people.”
Drama Club members have been working hard to get ready for the event, say organizers.
“We had to do a lot of advertisement stuff,” Mia Keeler, junior and event chair, said. “I had to make posters, then we had to assign each class which baked goods to bring so we can get more money for charity and have all the equipment we need. I had to make a signup sheet to get acts. But other than that, it was pretty simple.”
Drama club is excited for the event, according to Keeler, and hopes for a great turnout.
