Students chosen for leadership conference
Over 20 student leaders have administration’s approval to attend a leadership conference at Lyons Township High School in late October.
“I am really looking forward to learn more skills on mobilizing whatever group I’m in leading to be passionate about whatever activity as I am,” Miriam Chung, junior and officer for Interact, FAME, and PE leadership, said.
Students will be doing some leadership exercises and breakout sessions, and according to Ryan Rubenstein, assistant principal for student activities and facilities, he hopes that students bring one or two things back and gain some experience to bring back to their club and activity. There will be a guest motivational speaker for students and students will be doing multiple activities with other students from Stevenson High School, Buffalo Grove High School, and many other high schools in the area.
Students were chosen by teachers or by club managers to attend the conference if they were in a leadership position.
“I sent an email to all teachers and coaches, seeking individuals that they thought could represent Lake Zurich well and have shown some leadership ability in their activity, club, or sport.” Rubenstein said.
This conference is new for students, but other similar events were attended in the past years.
Students attending this conference will need to complete the field trip form. Breakfast and lunch will be provided by the school and transportation is also provided.
