Pictures in hallway convey common themes, conflicts
The Digital Photo Studio 1 class has hung up their photo projects around the school to try and reach out to students and faculty in different ways.
According to David Block, senior Digital Photo Studio 1 student, the project, which is in its fourth year, is a social art movement that is meant to display messages through pictures to show how people around the country face common conflicts.
“The theme [of the pictures] was whatever we wanted to convey,” Block said. “We would have a person who had to convey some sort of meaning, whether it was through different forms of lighting or through different things [the person] was holding.”
The students worked on their own individual projects, each of which represented different meanings.
“My photograph [had a person] holding a picture of a family to show the general dislike towards American family,” Block said. “Perhaps being a son or daughter of a family that went through a divorce, and not specifically [the person holding the picture], but it represents someone whose parents have gotten a divorce.”
Each student has a different outlook on their projects and what it meant not only to others, but to themselves, as well.
“This project meant expressing a feeling, which I believe is held by many people of our generation,” Block said. “It draws attention to the issues of [the feeling] on a large scale.”
