Studio Theatre showcase entertains kids as well as adults
The studio theatre class successfully presented its showcase, which was a collaboration of small skits, last weekend. This year’s show was inspired by 2nd graders at May Whitney.
“It went really well, we didn’t know how the audience would react because the show is geared towards kids, not adults,” Gena Nigro, senior in Studio Theatre, said.
Even though the plot is child-based, the Studio Theatre students added sprinkles of adult humor throughout, from jokes about coming out of the closet to jabs at stranger danger precautions.
The show was a compilation of classic fairytales like Little Red Riding Hood, the Tortoise and the Hare, and Goldilocks – with a twist. The students at May Whitney added their own creativity, such as unicorns, hedgehogs, dolphins, and giant school supplies, to make each short skit unique.
“The kids reacted really awesome. We went to May Whitney to perform to them last week, and they were invited to see it again over the weekend,” Nigro said. “I think they really liked the scene with Goldilocks and Brownilocks, the hedgehogs, the best. There were a ton of smiles and laughs.”
