Charity Bash assembly this Thursday
The Charity Bash assembly to support this year’s charity, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, will take place on Thursday, February 12 in the Field House.
“This charity is close to our hearts so we hope students will step up this year. We have three different people speaking this year, including Michaela Cecala and Megan Theis, who are both cancer survivors,” Kalyn Kunschke, senior and Student Council secretary, said. “We will be revealing the Charity Bash t-shirts and have info clips and videos from St. Baldrick’s website which has kids with cancer talking.”
Student Council hopes to raise over $20,000 for St. Baldrick’s, which funds childhood cancer research. It is always their goal to raise more than the year before.
“In the past, Charity Bash hasn’t done as well as we had hoped, so this year we’re hoping that students can have more involvement and step up and take matters into their own hands,” Kunschke said.
Charity Bash is running through the entire year this year, unlike previous years where it lasted for only a limited amount of time.
“Charity Bash running all year usually doesn’t work as well because people forget about it, so we’re hoping to change it back to a limited amount of time next year,” Kunschke said. “So far, we’ve had events like the dodgeball tournament, and soon we have upcoming events for Charity Bash like the Talent Show, volleyball tournament, and auction wall.”
