Orchesis show to raise money for Charity Bash
Orchesis will be performing next Friday and Saturday in the PAC in order to raise money for the charity bash foundation.
The shows on Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14 are both held at 7pm. Adult tickets cost $8 and student tickets cost $6 with proceeds going to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
“The dance I choreographed is dedicated to people who fought cancer or lost the battle with cancer, and I think that it’s really important to raise funding for an illness as bad as cancer,” Alexis Charnogorsky, sophomore, said.
Orchesis has been choreographing and creating these dances all year, and the show is the event that they showcase their skills.
“After Homecoming was when all of us [students] started choreographing, and we brought in guest choreographers as well. Recently we began cleaning all of the dances so that they are ready for the show,” Charnogorsky said.
The Orchesis show is held once a year, and the group is quickly putting all of the pieces of the show together.
“We’ve been practicing four times a week, and we keep running through the 16 dances that will be in the show. Each dance is 2-3 minutes and we only have about a minute for each costume change,” Erin Sweeney, senior, said.
Though Orchesis is donating money to St. Baldrick’s, the show is not technically a Charity Bash event. This month’s Charity Bash activity is the talent show, which will be held on February 25.
“I think it’s cool because obviously everybody knows poms, but our dance style is so different from there’s,” Sweeney said. “It’s really fun to see something different like lyrical, jazz, and tap dances, and the show raises money for a really good cause.”
