Adult Living class hosting mock wedding
Throughout the week of December 8-12, one of the Adult Living classes will be preparing to host the annual “mock wedding.”
Every year, Adult Living classes set up a fake wedding. This year, the third hour class will be participating and performing.
The mock wedding simulates a real life wedding for the students to observe. The students have to plan out the financal aspect of a wedding and the physical set up.
“They get class time to work, but there are some jobs that may require doing stuff outside of school. For instance, the bride and the groom have to go try on their outfits at Mr. Tuxe and rent [the outfits] for the day,” Lauren Engelhardt, family and consumer science teacher, said.
The mock wedding will be held during fourth hour on Tuesday, December 16. Students are allowed to invite friends, family, and staff members that are free to come see the final product.
In addition to the mock wedding, the Adult Living class prepares students for life after college. Things such as morals, values, relationships, and budgeting are different aspects of the class.
“We focus on relationships, marriage and divorce, we talk about the research aspect of what goes into planning a wedding and how much it costs, the reasons for engagement and why we’re in relationships, good verses the red flags,” Engelhardt said. “We do the mock wedding as a fun and informative project for students to plan a wedding.”
