Homecoming assembly features live acts, entertaining performances
Today marked the annual Homecoming assembly to create excitement for both the Homecoming football game and the Homecoming dance. This year, the assembly featured exciting performances ranging from Boys’ Poms to teacher-created skits.
Homecoming Court
Every year, a Homecoming prince and princess, and king and queen for seniors, are voted for by the students. This year’s Homecoming Court is represented by: freshmen Meggie Furlong and Austin Matuszewski; sophomores Matt Pereira and Maya Perez; juniors Merrick Howarth and Robert Witkowski; and seniors Tim Hass, Genna Danial, Patrick MacDonald, and Catherine Miller.
Tim Hass, senior prince: “It’s an honor and I’m completely shocked to win prince compared to the other contestants since they are wonderful opponents.”
Genna Danial, senior princess: “I was not expecting to win. It’s nice to know that all of these people support me in what I do.”
Patrick MacDonald, senior king: “I feel really excited because I didn’t expect to win.”
Catherine Miller, senior queen: “I couldn’t be more grateful. I’m so lucky to be surrounded by so many nice people and to be so fortunate.”
Marching Band and Color Guard
The marching band and Color Guard preformed a preview to tonight’s Homecoming Halftime Show. The band played short excerpts from their songs, while the Color Guard members performed alongside them.
Senior Athlete Dance
As with tradition, all senior athletes participating in a fall sport got up and danced to a mash-up of songs with a partner of their choosing. After the dance, the students began the chant “Seniors, seniors” which got everyone up on their feet chanting along.
Poms
The varsity Poms team performed their hip-hop routine, which they will also be performing at the Homecoming football game during halftime.
Boys’ Poms
Junior and senior boys performed a routine designed by the varsity Poms team. This dance was also performed at the Powderpuff game on Wednesday, September 17.
Cheerleading
The Cheerleading team performed their standard routine which will also be performed at the Homecoming football game.
Faculty Dance
Various members of the faculty performed skits based on the Homecoming theme “Bears on the Big Screen.” Skits came from movies such as: The Sound of Music, Top Gun, Footloose, Frozen, The Breakfast Club, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
