The Blue and White Jamboree is going to be held on Saturday, August 23 to welcome the new turf.

This annual event will be held from 11:30am to approximately 1pm later that afternoon.  All parents and students are invited. In past years, it was usually a “blue and white” football team scrimmage held to welcome the new year.

“This year we wanted to try something different”, Rolly Vazquez, athletic director said, “We asked ourselves, ‘Why don’t we include band, why don’t we include poms, why not cheerleading?’”

This is the first year including the three performance groups with the football team.

The band starts with an opening number and after the band, the incoming freshman football team will be introduced, followed by the cheerleading team. After the cheerleading routine, the sophomore team will be introduced.

The poms dance team will follow the sophomore team, and then finally, the 2014-2015 varsity football team will be introduced.

Despite all the changes, the tradition of applying the decals on the football players’ helmets will remain the same.

A future idea for the blue and white jamboree is to include all fall sports in this recognition and celebration of the new school year.
