The varsity softball team made it all the way to the finals, losing 12-9 in the sectional finals. Despite the loss, they were proud of their work. After playing five post season games, the team only lost one game.
“I think we were really good. [We were] like a family,” Brittney Pettinger, junior, who played on the varsity team this season and is proud of her and her team’s work.
With the family atmosphere the, girls benefitted as a team, playing a good season. The varsity team will be losing 11 of their 18 players, however, when they head off to college, so it is unclear how well the team will play next year.
Amanda Rodriguez, physical education teacher and varsity head coach, taught the team everything there was to know about softball. Rodriguez typically coaches the JV team but was moved up this year. This change was beneficial for the team’s success.
“I thought she was a really good coach,” Pettinger said.
