New, more energy-efficient lighting was installed in certain rooms in the Physical Education wing over Spring Break to improve visibility in the areas.
The new lighting was installed in the Main Gym, Tonelli Gym, Pom Room, Kiln Room, Physical Education Storage Room, Pom Storage Room, and the Weight Room. The purpose of the lights is to improve brightness and energy conservation, according to Ryan Rubenstein, assistant principal of student activities and facilities,
“These lights are more energy efficient and throw off more light,” Rubenstein said. “[Students and faculty] should be able to see better in the gyms, especially at night.”
The lights were purchased with grant money, and planning to have them purchased and installed lasted about two months. Due to success with the lights, lighting might be improved in other areas of the school as well.
“So far the response [to the lights] has been positive,” Rubenstein said. “There are now plans to improve the lighting in the Field House as well.”
