Student Council will be hosting a fundraiser at California Pizza Kitchen today, February 20 to raise money for Charity Bash.

Students can bring a flyer from Student Council that they must have with them to California Pizza Kitchen when they pick up their order. Orders can be dine-in, take-out, or catering, and 20 percent of all proceeds collected will be donated to Special Olympics Illinois.

“Originally, we went there looking for a donation for the Auction Wall, but the manager offered us [the fundraiser] instead. It actually worked in our favor since fundraisers like this can bring in hundreds of dollars for the cause,” Jon Gaide, senior and Student Council secretary, said.

Student Council has high hopes for the fundraiser this year although it is the first full-day restaurant fundraiser.

“We’ve done a number of years [of fundraisers] with Panda Express and Go Roma,” Gaide said, “but this is the first time it’s all day rather than just during lunch hours.”

Members created a Facebook event for the fundraiser which, as of print time, has invited almost 500 students. The flyer can be found on the Facebook event titled ‘CPK fundraiser for LZHS Charity Bash,’ which is a public event that all students can join. Flyers can be found at the entrances around the school.

Proceeds from the flyer are only valid at the California Pizza Kitchen in Deer Park between 11am and 10pm.
