Drama students spent three days at Theater Fest which took place at Illinois State University lask week.
Theater Fest is an annual fair for students from throughout Illinois involved in their drama departments. Sophomore, junior, or senior drama students were eligible to attend the trip, which cost $200. They were at ISU Thursday to Saturday.
“Schools around the state bring shows to perform,” Kendall Barron, senior who attended Theater Fest, said. “There’s also workshops for things like dancing, singing, and technical theater.”
Barron was also a sound board operator for Theater Fest’s Allstate Show, a performance that Barron says is the best in the state. Students must audition to be in the Allstate Show along with attending monthly rehearsals over weekends for about half a year.
“I loved the audience’s reaction to the Allstate Show,” Barron said. “People appreciate that it’s the best of the best and gave a standing ovation each night.”
Barron recommends drama students attend Theater Fest and further encourages them to participate in the Allstate Show.
“It’s a really great experience and good opportunity,” Barron said. “It should be recognized more throughout the school.”
