There is a new social network being used at LZHS, and its members include students, teachers, and administrators.
The school’s new Twitter account, @LZHSBears, is used to update students with information on what is going on around the school. This website is used to tweet information about all types of events that are happening.
“I’m hoping that it will be an informational avenue for students, parents, and the community,” Ryan Rubenstein, creator of the LZHS Twitter, said. “Right now, we only have about 62 followers, but hopefully through articles in Bear Facts and other things, the word will get out about the Twitter.”
The account is constantly used to help remind students and people in the town of LZ of events taking place in and outside of school.
“I created it because I feel like we’re in an instantaneous society, and people want to know things now,” Rubenstein, assistant principal of student activities, said. “Twitter is a good way to get information now on certain things. If the right people are following you, you’re doing it the right way.”
Rubenstein hopes in the future the Twitter account will be a source of information for all students, but is not trying to push following the account on the students.
“Right now, we have it on the market,” Rubenstein said. “Really to me, it’s more of a word of mouth kind of thing. I don’t want to force people into following our Twitter, but I really don’t see our Twitter as a negative thing. We aren’t searching people out or anything, it is solely to put out massive amounts of information quickly.”
