As LZHS students get a day off of school, teachers and staff are still required to attend a normal school day. Although their day is not filled with classes and lessons, they still spend the day working.
Students do not always know what teachers go through during institute days, but those days are the ones where teachers have to be a student again.
“It’s a full day, and what happens is they have ‘strands’ which are different learning opportunities for teachers,” Steve Jeretina, social studies department head, said. “We select the strands which are taught by experts in that field, like teaching strategies or classes with iPads for troubleshooting or incorporating it into the classroom.”
Even though students get to sleep in and have the day to themselves, teachers spend it learning techniques to better students education.
