Senior David LaVanne is collecting donations of food and water to bring the hurricane victims of Harrisburg, IL as his Eagle Scout project.
LaVanne began the project almost two weeks ago following the disaster that struck Harrisburg, and said he hopes to supply the victims with as much nonperishable food and bottled water as he can collect.
“Collections are being done through my church, the community, band and choir, and the school at large,” LaVanne said.
To assist him with the endeavor, LaVanne created a group of friends and family he calls ‘On-Call Volunteers,’ who are ready to assist him in packaging and sorting the food he receives so he can take it to victims over spring break.
LaVanne said he hopes to complete the project not just to earn his Eagle Scout title, but also to provide relief to those struck by the tornado.
