LZHS will offer a free screening of the documentary Race to Nowhere on March 6 at 7pm. The documentary depicts the long term effects of over-scheduling, lack of emotional development, and the pressure to be successful on teenagers.
“This documentary is basically about the push society has on today’s teenagers to work hard and succeed as much as they can,” Matt Liberatore, guidance counselor, said. “But really, the teens of today are being pushed too hard and there are some side effects.”
The goal of the film is to find ways to assist students in these struggles and how to maintain these tasks, according to Liberatore.
Following the film a panel of professionals will discuss the films message with the audience. College Counselor Carl Krause will answer any questions parents or students may have. Psychologists and other school administrators will also be available after the documentary to answer any questions parents or students may have on issues the film arose.
The film will be shown in the PAC and is free admission to students and parents.
