Ultimate Frisbee Club (UFC) held their third annual Ultimate Frisbee tournament December 5 to raise money for Charity Bash 2011.
“My sophomore year, the seniors of the UFC decided to do a Charity Bash tournament because they wanted to get Frisbee more well known, and what better reason to do it but for Charity Bash,” Kenni Ther, senior and co-captain of UFC, said. “The first year it was very disorganized. We raised more money last year because the junior captains made it more well known.”
A total of 10 teams signed up for the tournament, and the club raised $150 for the Crohn’s and Colitis foundation.
The winning team was ‘LZXC,’ one of the teams of Cross Country runners playing in the tournament. The members were JB Hanson, math teacher; Pat McPartlan, senior; Jared Ripoli, junior; Robert Picha, sophomore; and Trevor Kuehr, junior.
Ther said the club plans on continuing the tradition to raise money for future Charity Bash weeks.
“It is a lot of fun,” Ther said. “I love playing Frisbee. It’s the only athletic thing I’m good at.”
