Frosh Friday: Choir, orchestra, high school oh my

Meredith Schiferl practices taking pictures for yearbook.

Name: Meredith Schiferl
Middle School: South

Q: What’s the most exciting thing you look forward to in High School? What’s the most terrifying?
A: Meeting new people, such as upperclassman because they’re cool. The most terrifying would be the classes and the intensity that people say goes into them. Especially because I’m taking all honors classes.

Q: What mistakes did you make in Middle School that you’re not going to do in High School?
A: Procrastination. I’m so bad. Like I’ll wait to do a paper the night before it’s due. I’m going to try my best not to do that this year.

Q: What are you interested in getting involved in for High School?
A: Yearbook sounds fun. I’d like to take pictures for the yearbook. I also sing but I’m not going to be in school choir. I’m in the Barrington Children’s Choir. We go on retreats and this summer we went to Italy. We toured sights for a really long time in the hot sun. Then we had rehearsals and performed in the Vatican and then we had a Gala concert. There were only twelve of us, but then we met with other choirs around the world and had fun and sang.

Q: Why wouldn’t you want to do school choir if you’re so dedicated to singing?
A:I didn’t do school choir because I have BCC and I also play the violin so with not doing choir in school I can sing and play the violin otherwise I would  give up orchestra which I didn’t want to do.

Q: What do you think you’ll have accomplished by senior year?
A: Hopefully I’ll know what I want to do with my life. It’d be nice to be the head stage manager for the play or musical. I plan on being in stage crew next year. And maybe take an AP class to experience it and get it over with for college.
