Guercio commits to University of Wisconsin Green Bay

Many people might have been binge watching Netflix shows over break or starting to study for finals, but Amanda Guercio, junior, was not one of them. Guercio, softball captain, committed to play Division 1 at University of Green Bay.

“Ever since I was young I always thought how much I love softball. I wanted to continue on and play in college. I just didn’t know what level yet,” Guercio said. “I went to a lot of other campus and when I went to [University of Wisconsin Green Bay] I felt comfortable. I really liked the coach and I just felt like it was a good fit for me.”

Guercio isn’t the only junior who committed to playing sports in college this year. Rebecca Kubin, junior, also committed earlier this fall to play Division 1 soccer at Murray State University. May 1 is the official decision date for graduating seniors. Few juniors, like Kubin and Guercio, commit early.

“If you’re really young and want to commit, just email coaches and go to their camps. Hopefully you perform well with your travel team and they see that,” Guercio said. “Sometimes, it’s a matter of performing a really good play or a really good hit. Trust the process.”
