Five junior PE Leaders have turned a classroom project into a non profit t shirt company that raises money for the World Wildlife Fund. Panda M, founded by Miriam Chung, junior, released its first product over Thanksgiving weekend.

“I just wanted to do something that would support animals and fundraise for them, but I didn’t know what to do. Originally this project came from my Spanish class project where we had to develop our own companies, ” Chung said. “Girls love clothes and frockets (front pockets), and we just thought we could incorporate something that all girls like and also supports animals because that was my original goal. I’ve always wanted to make my own clothes, and now it’s for a good cause, that’s even better.”

Juniors Jordyn Becich, Lauren Shon, Emma Wenckowski, and Natalie Ullman are also business managers of Chung’s project group. The company is currently selling long sleeve, maroon shirts with a white, hand drawn design panda on the back. Frockets are available upon request for $2 more

Chung is not the only person excited about raising money to support WWF. Chung and her business managers did not have to expand far before finding many others who were just as excited and passionate about the t-shirts.

“I wanted to support my friends and they did an awesome job designing them. They’re pretty inexpensive considering that the company just started, and they support a good cause. I’m excited for the frocket and I’m looking forward to future designs.” Tara Frank, junior, said.
